Passages
2025, Woodcut on mulberry and thai kozo paper
This series of woodcuts speaks to the passage of time through the pictorial element of a line. A line conceived as a point in movement, a metaphor for moving from one place to another. The quality of the lines varies depending on the force that drives them, and it is this that creates curves and irregular marks. A person who walks, who understands space through their body, a person who migrates, confronts diverse external forces that turn a path into one full of changes, of irregular lines.
These abstract, imagined landscapes are also the result of a printmaking technique that embraces slowness, much like the daily acts of my life as a migrant and printmaker: walking, translating, carving.
